Sustainable Design
We seek to minimise the adverse effects on the environment of all buildings which we design, at global and local scales, whilst promoting healthy indoor conditions for occupants. We believe that this is best achieved by meeting all achievable requirements of the BREEAM Assessment Method, which provides targets for the Design Team in the following respects:
Global Issues:
- Green House Gases
- Sustainable Timber Resources
- Recycled Demolition Materials
- Recycled Paper Retrieval Bins
Local Issues:
- Local wind effects
- Minimum impact on surrounding residential buildings
- Over-shadowing other buildings and land
- Water economy
- Ecological Value of the site
- Cyclists facilities
Indoor Issues:
- Ventilation, passive smoking and humidity
- Hazardous materials
- Lighting
- Thermal Comfort and over-heating
- Indoor Noise Levels
Our effort is focused by following the published guidance documents and by holding regular audits of the design proposals. This procedure enables significant benefits to be gained in the project's long-term environmental impact, as well as an improved comfort level for all occupants. Formal submissions for a BREEAM rating can also be administered, if required.
